Why Data Is the Key to Unlocking Workplace Equity – and Why the 2025 Gender Pay Gap Equity Index Matters More Than Ever
When it comes to workplace equity, good intentions aren't enough. To drive meaningful, lasting change, organisations need something more powerful: data.
Without data, you’re only guessing at the issues — and the solutions. With it, you can uncover hidden gaps, design targeted strategies, and track your progress towards a fairer, more inclusive workplace.
That’s why we’re so proud to announce that the 2025 Equity Index is now live. Click here to check out the latest data.
Our Equity Index goes far beyond the usual surface-level statistics. It’s based on the latest UK Gender Pay Gap submissions. The Lead5050 Equity Index brings together every piece of information organisations publish in their gender pay gap reports, to help you understand how they’re doing, compare it to others in their region or sector, and make informed decisions about where to work and where to spend your money.
It’s a score out of 100, based on the mean pay gap, median pay gap, bonus pay gap, and gender representation across the pay scales. The closer an organisation is to 100, the closer they are to workplace equity.
What We’ve Found
The story the data tells is clear: many organisations are making progress, but systemic barriers still persist. Leadership development, pay transparency, and career progression opportunities remain key areas for improvement.
