The Unsung Hero Award was established to recognize and acknowledge a particular person who has made significant contributions above and beyond his/her position in an organization. The recipient may not have been otherwise recognised for his/her accomplishments and achievements.

For a woman who has inspired others, maybe done something out of the ordinary to help others, a role model in the workplace. Maybe she has battled against enormous odds, and yet still continues to contribute to the workplace.

Supporting women in the workplace. For companies of any size that have shown exceptional commitment to gender equality in the workplace. They will be able to demonstrate a forward-thinking, proactive and creative approach to enabling women to realise their full potential. This could include taking action in areas such as recruitment, employee recognition and development, flexible working, helping women returning to the workplace or any other ways of creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture which enables women to excel.

For a woman who has been ahead of her time in all aspects of business for some considerable time.

WOMAN BUSINESS OWNER/MD OF THE YEAR 2018

To qualify for the award nominee must own at least 10% of the business or been working in a full time senior management level position within the company at least 12 months in the last 24 months.

BEST CHAMPION OF CHANGE OF THE YEAR 2018

This award is to recognise a man who has demonstrated their ability and commitment to raising the value of diversity and inclusiveness in their work environment. The successful candidate will be able to show how their ability to influence or bring about cultural change in the workplace has given rise to more support for gender diversity and equality.

For the woman under 35 who has shown ambition and determination in the workplace (must be under 35 on 1 November 2017).

Best New Business/Start Up of the Year which are owned or part owned by a woman (business must be less than 12 months old on 1 November 2017).

MENTOR OF THE YEAR 2018

The Mentor of the Year will be a male or a female who has gone the extra mile as a mentor of women in business, or young businesses over the past year. The winner will have shown willingness to volunteer their time to supporting one or more new or growing businesses and/or supporting one or more individuals in their chosen career. They will be inspiring and dedicated to diversity and inclusion.
