Spain aims to offer paid menstrual leave as a legal requirement - first in Europe

Wow - this is news:

SPAIN APPROVES BILL TO BECOME FIRST COUNTRY IN EUROPE TO OFFER MENSTRUAL LEAVE

Draft new legislation - leaked to Spanish media outlets - proposes giving workers who suffer from severe period pain three days of optional medical leave a month, with two additional days permitted in exceptional cases.

There are some other countries in the world which already grant menstrual leave, including Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and Zambia.

But Spain is the first country in Europe.

And recent research has shown that two-thirds (67%) of women said they would be more inclined to apply for and accept a job if the company had a menstruation policy in place.

A simple policy.  Does your company have one?

With the fight to attract the very best staff still raging, it seems like it must only be a matter of time before companies are forced to acknowledge how medical issues can affect 50% of the workforce on a regular basis.

And at Lead5050 we are so here for it!
