Why we should celebrate International Men’s Day

There was a time when the idea of an 'International Men's Day' was a joke.

Why do MEN need a day??

The implication being that they've already won the lottery by being born a man, and that every day is 'men's day'.

But research shows that suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50 in the UK and 76% of all suicides are male.

Men suffer unique pressures to provide, to be strong and in control.

At Lead5050 we believe that the current leadership paradigm serves very few, and we are all about improving the workplace so that both men and women can benefit.

International Men's Day is a day to recognise and appreciate the men in our lives and the positive contributions they have on us and the communities they live in.

It is also a day to recognise the hardships that men face which can often go undiscussed.

International Men's Day is Saturday 19 November - let's raise our voices in solidarity.
